James Oliver Cury is the online editorial projects manager (web director) at Details.com, a Conde Nast site. He oversees all web content, digital/mobile strategy, social media, and video. He has been a web director at Maxim.com and at Hearst Digital, where he was responsible for the entire family of shelter publication sites, including Goodhousekeeping.com, HouseBeautiful.com, TheDailyGreen, and CountryLiving.com. Prior to Hearst, he was executive editor of Epicurious.com, food/restaurant editor of Time Out New York, and senior editor/lifestyle editor of Playboy.com.


Cury has been a judge at the Culinary Institute of America, the Jack Daniels World Barbecue Championship, and the Food Network's "Iron Chef" show. He's written for dozens of magazines including Entertainment Weekly, Esquire, Maxim, Men's Journal, SPIN, PC World, Wired News, and The New York Times. He is also the author of "The Playboy Guide to Bachelor Parties" (Simon & Schuster, 2003). Cury was on the James Beard Chef & Restaurant Awards committee for five years, overseeing 20 NYC judges. He is currently a judge of the ASMEs (National Magazine Awards).



Cury collects vintage records and spends an inordinate amount of time renovating his house. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and dog.
