ABOUT JAMES OLIVER CURY
I write about the things I love: food, drink, music, travel, style, interior design, and pop culture. This includes freelance articles for Travel & Leisure, Food & Wine, Esquire, The New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, Food Network, Every Day with Rachael Ray, Entertainment Weekly, Rollingstone.com, and Wired News. I am also the author of "The Playboy Guide to Bachelor Parties" (Simon & Schuster).
I’ve been an editor at Playboy, Time Out New York, and Epicurious — and I was the digital director at DETAILS, The Points Guy, Ladders, Good Housekeeping, House Beautiful, and Country Living. I’ve helped sites like
De Gustibus (cooking school), Authentic Explorations (travel agency), and Mulholland Distilling (spirits brand) develop and refine their websites, social media, newsletter, and e-commerce.
For several years, I was one of 15 food journalists on the James Beard Restaurant & Chef Awards national committee. I represented the New York City region, managed 20 judges, and helped create some new award categories (“Best Bar Program,” among others). I've also been a judge at the Culinary Institute of America, the Jack Daniels World Barbecue Championship, and the Food Network's "Iron Chef" show.
