As the digital director at Details and The Points Guy, and as executive editor at Epicurious, I conceived video ideas, scouted locations, hired shooters and editors, coached on-screen talent, and collaborated on music selection and typography. Then I went through the back and forth of editing and sought approvals as needed until we were happy with the final cut.

 

How to Make a Margarita

Posted in April of 2008, this video had all the bells and whistles of the day — custom animated logo, celebrity mixologist, multiple cameras — and still works today. Why? It gets to the point quickly, the talent adds value/context to the recipe, and the drink is a classic. We shot 20 or so of these videos in one day for maximum ROI.
